Memorial Tribute to The Fallen Soldier #lamentations
Sandra Bland, O Sandra; Sandra Bland, O Sandra; Sandra Bland, Oh O Sandra
What do you really want?
If, you could have it all, tell me… you’d be about -- what?
[Boast] Hope it would be ‘bout Love
Look back at all who’ve come
Note all those everlasting
Faithfully took action and they made it; Love happened!
Go! Go! Go within, say-it-loud
No mission’s impossible! Oh, the whole world is so yours right now - all you believe is yours!
What are you waiting for?
Feed the crowd!
Meanwhile, every door deemed shut in, you keep running, bum-rushing it down
O don’t let me see you [drop] a seep…
And when they hose you, throw you over across a floor (those poles swollen elbos)
Render you blows; see whole clips unloaded on you…
And when they deny you, bind you for years unknown
If you never come in from the cold... (If you never see tree, birds, no mo)…
It hasn’t broken just what can’t be broke; will never sell out just what can’t be sold
We haven’t come this far that we can’t carry the load
Borrowed that from someone who’d given everything to HOPE:
It will only make you much bolder [Come back] Right out of nowhere on ya
You'll find a sudden strength from down low to help you get over
Oh, Stiff-Neck (Rebel)
Sandra Bland, O Sandra; Sandra Bland, O Sandra, Sandra Bland, Oh O Sandra
Be outpouring as a water fountain
Joy’s an overflowing cup; O feel it up [drink it enough] even when tasting it’s not allowed
Help spread it all around; Open the mouths of those who didn’t anticipate it [need hydrating]
Quenched all who drank it
Go sound off with praising and shouting and let it out (and let it out and let it out!)
An every cry heard heeds consoling; will free a heart steeped in a moment
Be already there (for you) when no one really going; all eyes on you when others hardly notice
We’ll be delivered when males go postal
So defend the defenseless, for the poor voiceless be vocal
These things come down to show if you’ve grown up or no?
How we’re torn apart makes the individual
Surround your soul with that peace of mind
Want to get close to this, don’t need to seek some place – just reach inside
Heard every voice weeping and wailing [non-stop] will forever be alive
Allow troubles to have their place from your beginning until your dying day
O what don’t kill you gon’ make you stronger
Might stumble along the way, Oh children, rest your head, love is a shoulder
Oh, don’t hurry - gon’ take you longer, know it ain’t over until it’s over
Sandra Bland, O Sandra Sandra Bland, O; Sandra, Sandra Bland, Oh O Sandra
(Say her name, say her name)
In a day and age when modern soul music is often represented by synthetic vibes, programmed tracks and monotonous lyrics, it is no wonder that some urban artists are beginning to look into the past to see the future. Old school singers like Marvin Gaye, Al Green and Isaac Hayes continue to find their namesakes used in various contexts to signify the musical gold standard artists respectively regard and pay homage while discoursing their own creative releases. While some contemporaries have endeavored to recapture the essence of great artists from generations past, few have been able to introduce that new element that would help define themselves in their own musical right.
Enter Niar!, a naturally conscious, around-the-way brotha, from Chicago, who seeks to redirect the current perspective of soul by offering a unique vocal style over a fresh musical landscape. Unlike most of his urban contemporaries, Niari avoids the use of flavor of the month samples, washed up break beats and tin can sounding keyboard riffs, instead diggin’ deep into the antiquated dust-laden crates of vintage vinyl and employing bits and pieces of classic jazz and soul compositions and reimagining them in warm, original surroundings creating a sonic collage of flavors that evoke the romantic sensibilities and social responsibilities of the hip hop generation. Achieving a rare measure of lyrical depth, Niari represents a new breed of classic singer-songwriter, exploring a musical passion born out of personal experiences and metaphysical contemplation.
Mining musical treasures out of rugged terrain is no easy task, but Niari has managed to discover soul in the most unlikely places. Continuously at work mastering his craft, Niari’s talent will inevitably cause a resounding impact on the current music scene.
Can you dig it?
"If nothing takes you there; love will get you by..."
